It's really starting to feel like Spring around here... it's been really warm and the sun has been shining. I'm getting so excited for Summer, so much that I decided it was time to make a Spring/Summer dress. I haven't named it yet, and it is not yet available online... I'm actually not sure when I will be posting it online... probably in the next few weeks.

For all you Vancouverites, you can find this dress at a couple places in the city..

As well as Dream, located at 311 W. Cordova Street in Gastown.

Another Spring addition is the Rue Boyer which is located in my Etsy shop...

It is made of a very thin, lightweight wool suiting... perfect for those cool Spring nights!

The beach was amazing the other day... can't wait till it's 30C outside!

Well, it's official.. Portland is home of the nicest people I've ever met. Seriously. In the four days spent there, I have never come across so many friendly, enthusiastic people. I totally fell in love with that city and I can't wait to go back. We stayed at the Ace Hotel which really made the trip amazing.

Our room was so cozy, I think I would have been happy just hanging out there the whole time.

Pretty excited about the cheap beer and lack of sales tax too... Portland is the best...

I just purchased these pants on Etsy and I am so excited to get them! They are such a great design, very unique.

They are from a new shop called Lindsaylindsay23.

I finally organized my studio space.. it was a disaster for the past 2 months. I moved in right in the middle of the Christmas rush so I had no time to do anything else but sew... I spent the evening last night cleaning and organizing and I'm so excited with the result! It finally feels like a cozy workspace.

I have also been slowly getting my apartment in order since I moved in in October. It's coming along nicely! I love my bedroom.. I could easily just live in here...

I hope to have some new spring designs coming up soon... if I can ever get caught up! I think my focus this season is going to be dresses. Can't wait :)

Lots of changes in the last little while. I left Montreal shortly after my last post and moved back to Vancouver. It's been a bit of an adjustment but I'm loving being back home... just in time for the rainy season!

I was also recently the Featured Seller on Etsy.. thanks Etsy! So needless to say I am busy busy busy... BUT...

Fall is here.. and this just happens to be my favorite time of year!

I had a custom order request from a girl visiting Montreal from Calgary. She wanted the Missy sweater, but with a hood.... I whipped it up yesterday and thought it turned out great!

I love how high the neck goes...

A lot of changes are happening right now... this always seems to be the case in my life. Hopefully one day it will all sort itself out.

My favorite little nook in my apartment...

It has been really hot this past little while... I'm not so sure I candle the humidity here.

I have fallen in love with East Coast storms.. it is so far my most favorite thing about living here.

I love having all the windows and doors open with the sound of loud cracking lightning and hard rain. So comforting in a way.

I have nothing new to show at the moment as I am currently scrambling to catch up... almost there...

Instead of posting my own.. I will post some favorites.

It's definitely an evening to be indoors with a cup of tea..

These are the days that make me love Montreal, and my life here...

Days like this, make it really hard to focus on work.

I am currently looking for retailers to sell Little Houses in the New York, Boston, Philly area... if anyone could give me some tips on some great stores in that area, I would really appreciate it!

I purchased this bike a few weeks ago for $20. Duncan and I took it apart, painted it, got some new bits and pieces for it... and voila! I'm in love with it now!

Fall in the works...

It's been a bit of a sweat shop around the studio lately, I am frantically working on an order that is going to Japan, as well as trying to get my fall line finished... I just did some really long days and managed to get almost the entire order finished for Japan, and a few new things for fall...

My friend Mike and I went out and did a mini photo shoot of some new and old Little Houses stuff, he has sent me the first couple photos, here is a new sweater from the Fall 09 line.

I haven't even named it yet, or posted it for sale...

I will post more as they come... hopefully the fall line with actually be finished before fall arrives!

Prince Edward Island

Duncan, Olive and I recently had a mini vacation to PEI.. it was my first time there and I totally fell in love with it. I can't remember the last time I left the honking horns and loud sirens of the city, to only hear the sound of the ocean every morning. It felt good. I really, really needed it.

Coffee's on the beach! Being here made me really miss the Ocean...

There was a whole lot of wholesome visits with the locals, fresh seafood, growlers, and walks on the beach... I could totally get used to this.

It was short but well worth it. Now it's back to fast paced city life and work, work, work!

Working on the Fall line

Projects! Last weekend was the weekend of projects... first was the couch... this couch was left by the old tenants, it was her grandmothers and I thought that it was such a modern, beautiful shape, I had to give it some tlc and reupholster it... so here it is before

and after!

I finally decided to update our bedroom.. unfortunately I didn't take a before pic, but it used to be this awful bubble gum pink... not my thing. So, I painted it a cozy sage green, added some of my favorite Etsy prints to the wall, and voila! It's magical.. I never want to leave.

Aside from all the redecorating, we have definitely been busy around the studio these days as well...working super hard trying to get the fall line completed AND photographed by the end of June... yikes.
Here is a sneak peak at some of the new stuff for fall...

I had a few comments about the Fontaine Jacket made into a raincoat... I think I might just try it... yellow maybe? Or red!
Anyways... the new pant, which I normally don't do well with pants, but I'm pretty happy with these ones, they are a wide legged pant, I'm getting into the wide leg again I think... and they have a wide, elastic waistband,

The fabric is a super soft, cotton knit. I love it. I may have to keep the sample for myself :)

In other news... I'm very sad that we never made it to Renegade. It just wasn't working out with the paperwork. Selling textiles over the border is a lot harder than I thought it would be.

Craft Faired Out....

It's been a long couple of weeks... tons and tons and tons of sewing trying to get ready for the 2 back to back craft shows. This past weekend was Puces Pop, which despite the monsoon that was occurring outdoors, there was a pretty good turn-out. We didn't sell as much as we would have liked to, but it was a good time and nice to see the fellow crafters again.

The previous weekend was the 'Fresh off the Press' Designer Fair. Again, not much luck in the weather department, but it was a good time and there were some really great artists there. Among my favorites below:

and Brazen Designs makes some amazing jewelry, I can't wait to get my hands on one of these necklaces!
It was a really great little space, the Little houses corner was super cozy, just how I like it!

'Fresh off the Press' Designer Fair

It's that time of year again!... Craft fair season :)
There are a few coming up but the first one is on May 9-10th from 12-5. If you live in Montreal, come check it out! There are going to be some really great designers there so don't miss it! It will be held at 4064 Boul. St. Laurent on the 2nd floor...

Other news.... we are re-locating the studio! We realized that our apartment is quite big and we were spending extra money on a space that we didn't really need... so, we moved... and it's great... in 2 days I managed to get EIGHT things done!! I can't believe it.. I actually am feeling like I'm almost caught up. Here are a couple pics of the new studio...

I found this great blog this weekend called Crafty Nest... it gives you ideas on how to transform old junk, like these old drawers that I made into a shelving unit... I love it!

It was my good friends 30th last weekend, so we put on our finest duds and party hats!

I can feel my 30th creeping up rather quickly... yikes...

Wide awake it's Morning...

It's been a busy week around here! Lot's of visitors, too much socializing and not enough sleep! I had my best friend from Vancouver come and stay for the weekend.. with all the excitement there was little work being done.. I did have a small, last minute sale at the Paper and Pine girls' house so I suppose you could call that work! It was a small, cozy little sale with some really great things, but unfortunately the weather just didn't cooperate! It rained all weekend! It now seems to be back to winter around here... I don't even like to say it out loud but IT'S SNOWING HERE! So sad... ah well, soon it will be too hot to bear..

I also found out this weekend that I got into Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn this summer! Very exciting... now the pressure is really on to work my but off!!

Spring has sprung!

Well spring is officially here! And it totally feels like it too... I got my first sunburn this weekend! Not that I'm and endorser of sunburns, but that first one always feels so good ya know? That first shot of Vitamin D after a long cold, dark winter. It is also the start of 'plenty of guests' season... we had our first round this weekend. I can foresee a lot of socializing this next few months... may have to crack the whip at some point and get to work! I am in the process of working on an order for a store in Halifax called Love, Me Boutique, I plan to have it finished in the next 2 weeks.

My website is FINALLY up!!! Yay!! Please have a lookie loo here... You can now buy things directly off of the site, rather than going through Etsy... although Etsy works fine too!

My husband and I have recently joined forces (sort of)... he has his new line Witch Hunt Clothing which I am helping him with and he is helping me with mine. It's great, we work together at the studio everyday but we are keeping our lines separate. Morning Coffee with Etsy

It's Sunday morning, my husband is in Toronto, and my lazy dog is still in bed... so I'm sitting cross legged at the computer with my coffee and Fleet Foxes quietly singing in the background... it's kind of cozy actually... My favorite thing to do while drinking my first coffee of the day is surf Etsy! There are so many great clothing designers on Etsy, it's really inspiring. So I have decided to share some of my fav's that I've come across today...

This top from Supayana is really cute, I'm loving it. This girl takes old vintage finds and reconstructs them into something beautiful... smart little cookie if you ask me... She's got some really great ideas, I may need to make a purchase one of these days! Have a peek at the rest of her lovely designs here

This super cute dress by Kaylim is brilliant! I just keep staring at it.. it's such a fantastic idea, I love things that are different and creative. I love how she has made the knitted cowl a part of the dress, it also has a drawstring so that you can wear it loose or tight... brilliant. Check out those hand stitched pockets! This dress is totally worth the $115 pricetag! Pick one up here

Still searching for the perfect little brown bag? Well I've found it! These bags from Penelope Foo
are probably the best leather bags I've seen on Etsy. They are super stylish, and really well made. This girl has some tallent.. this shop is definitely worth having a look at! I can't wait to one day own one of these... check out her new shop here

New Home!

It's been a while since my last post... I have been busy busy busy! What's new though, really.
We moved into a new apartment and I'm totally in love with it. It is definitely the best apartment I have ever lived in. Here is a sneak peek at the new place....

Other than all the moving fun, I am trying my hardest to sqeeze in spring designs! I recently received some amazing new handmade, ceramic buttons from Veronica Buttons. You can visit her Etsy store here. The buttons are stunning, but they are definitely larger than I expected! But they worked perfectly for these two new garments I've created. Here is the very first dress I have ever made, I call it The Clarice

And a new top made of a 100% wool knit, it's really soft and super light, perfect for spring! (If it ever decides to come around)

And now for some favorite recent Etsy finds! I'm pretty sure that this bowl by Poodlebreath is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen... wow... I'll take 2 please!

Well I'm sick.. I've been trying to ignore it and hope that it will just go away but alas... the sickness won. It's Valentines day.. and as much as I kind of think that this whole holiday is a bit of a joke.. Dunc and I decided to hang out. We took the dog to the mountain for a walk... turns out the actual 'walk' part was closed because it is sheer ice. So instead we went to see the horses! This lovely boy was wonderful..

He came at me and freaked me out!

So pretty....

The view today was pretty great... so nice and sunny out...

It was a bit cold with the wind.. so we came home for tea and chocolates!

I am doing my best to get new stuff done these days... The Brandenburg is a new spring coat

I think this one is my new favorite... The Arienette ... the fabric made me think of grandpa's coat, and what is a grandpa coat without leather elbow patches?

That's all for today... time to heat up some soup, brie and baguettes and get some rest...

I have decided to try and make something new every week for the next little while. At least until spring... I also received an email today that Renegade Craft Fair in New York is finally accepting applications for the summer! Wish me luck on that one! I really really want to go to this... an Etsy craft fair?? So exciting!! Anyways... we'll see.

My friend sent me a link today, this ad was randomly posted on Boing Boing... apparently, Etsy has used my photo for their ad... kinda awesome!

I have been a bit addicted to Apartment Therapy lately.. I came across this photo of a room that I want to recreate.. it's amazing.

Lastly.. I made a new sweater, shocker. It's just such great cozy sweater season right now! This new one is called La Fleur and you can find it here

I have been hard at work in the studio trying to bust out the Spring stuff!! I managed to get a couple things done... these little tube dresses are such a great summer staple... versatile, simple, inexpensive. They come in a variety of colors, pictured is the chocolate brown, (leather belt sold separatly)...

And Candy Cane Red... also comes in Navy Blue stripe and Black stripe...

This month has been boring, not a lot of action on the Etsy site, which means not a lot of action for Little Houses. So instead of moping about it (which I have been doing lately), I decided to take advantage and work work work! I am going to work on getting into some more stores, as well as getting spring stuff done, and more mens stuff. The newest mens sweater is called 'Elijah' and can be found here

Loads of Studio Time...

We have been spending loads of time in the studio this past week, the whole family! It's been great, and I've been getting a lot of stuff done....

So after many requests for a Little Houses men's line, I have finally decided that it's time. With the help of my husbands great ideas, we have decided to create some designs together. So far only one item has been made, and one more has been drafted... and it's only day 3! By spring we should have a lot more to show... here is the first hoodie designed by Duncan :) It's called Prince of Thieves and you can find it here

I have also been working hard on getting my spring designs ready before spring is actually here. Now that I have some help, I am managing to get so much more done. I am also in the process of getting my website done.... finally! It will be located here.

So it's been pretty slow this January around the Little Houses shop, I was starting to worry a bit about the whole economy situation and how it might affect my business... until I came across this article:

It was printed in the New York Times a few days before Christmas.....

"On Sept. 29, a day the stock market plunged sharply, Etsy, the leading Web marketplace for handmade goods, had record sales. In November and December, the site has continued to break records. Last month, artists sold $10.8 million of goods on Etsy, up from $4.2 million in November 2007. Yay Etsy! It makes me happy that people are finally starting to turn their attention to hand-crafted, one of a kind goods, rather than the mass produced crap that floods our daily lives. I managed to do all of my Christmas shopping on Etsy this year so I'm sure I added to those large numbers!

It's seems that moving blogs is a bit more work than I thought... I feel like I've been sitting at this computer for days! I did manage to get a new coat finished... I have never made a long coat like this before so some feedback would be much appreciated!

I am starting to look forward to creating some spring stuff... although it sure didn't feel like spring today!! That photo shoot was rough... so cold!

I have been a total slacker with work this past couple weeks.. Monday will be the end of holiday mode! Time to get shit done...

And time for some tea and big hearty salad...
